anyone have some recomendations for last minute spots in Florida?
We would like to escape over the christmas holidays and new year or only first January week.

Most places we checked are allready booked

I'm sure most of the really nice coastal spots are taken so I'd focus more on the central and midland parks for better availability.

I picked up a copy of the book at a Florida State Park (magazine format) and got the web address from the back page. It was free so you might look for a copy when you're down there.
