Power Issues While using Batteries.

Good evening all,

I am going camping sunday and for over a week and require battery power. We have a 2019 Fun Finder 24KR. When plugged in to the home I have full power with everything working, it also works when it is plugged into my truck connector. The issue I am having is when I am trying to run off of battery.

When I switch to batteries, which are two 6V in series for 12V, the power within the RV does not work. I notice the indicator lights on the CP will flicker. When I click to check the battery power it will show 1/3 full for a short while and then the indicator lights will flicker.

- The batteries show 12v when checked with a voltmeter
- All fuses are in good condition.
- AC breakers are also in good condition and nothing triggers.
- Fuse near batteries are in good condition.
- There has been some buildup at the terminals of the batteries
- The GFCI has buildup within the receptacle (which I will be replacing tomorrow). The green light is showing on the GFCI.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Short of returning the batteries for testing I am at a loss as to what the issue may be.

This could be a battery maintenance issue -- have you kept the batteries on a trickle charger? If not, they will run down over time, and leaving them discharged for a long time will cause the batteries to fail.
 
Hey Pro,

It has sat on trickle chargers over the winter. Perhaps I need to look into a better charger for the winter time.

I currently have the batteries on a charger overnight and will run it in the AM to see if it drains quickly. If so, I will have to buy new ones before I take off.

On a side note, I rewired the GFCI as it was corroded due to the wiring being set up wrong. So thats a plus heh
 
On my 2011 210 there is a push pull switch in the front pass thru on the right ( passenger side ) back wall. Mine had corroded at the wire connector. You mentioned that it flickered. Mine did the same. The switch has a bell shape chrome look.
 
Interesting, I will take but I did not see one in my journeys. Perhaps it is in good condtion still heh.

I ended up replacing the batteries and all seems to be working fine. Thanks to the both of you for your assistance.

I am sure glad I found this place as I venture into the world of RV maintenance.

What type of 6volt batteries do you have? When was the last time you added water( I'm assuming they're lead acid type)? Do you have a specific gravity meter to measure when they are fully charged. If not get one. I can bet that your charger is not charging you batteries properly. For lead acid you will need a 4 stage charger. And it will need to be set to the correct profile for the battery type. Running lead acid batteries without a charging source for a week is nearly impossible. Do you have solar? You are not going to charge them enough or properly by your TV. You would have to run the engine nearly all day. If you want to use that type of charging then consider lead carbon batteries or LFP. With those batteries you can pump in a large amount of current to charge them quickly. But again you will need the correct charger set to the correct profile. Also, get yourself a battery monitor to see you usage.
 
The green light on the GFCI could possibly be that it has tripped, not that it is good to go.
