OK so I had guests stay with me last week when camping. We were connected to campground water. Somewhere in middle of the night the pump switch got turned on. My question is. Did my pump get burned up. Or do I need to put water in my tank and test it. I don't know how long it was on nor how many times people might have used water while nothing in the tank.

I don't know what tells the camper to use land city intake or pump.

Anyone have thoughts on this one.
I have an xt-245 year 2010.

IIRC Cruiser uses Shurflo pumps which can be run dry without damage. At least according the manufacturer. I would put some water in the tank and check it to be sure though.

LJAZ is spot on... Most "newer" pumps will run dry with no harm, however, I don't know that running dry for several hours is exactly what they mean. As LJAZ suggests, I'd load up with some freshwater and test the pump...does it come up to pressure and cut off? If it does, you should be OK. It may leak down if the impellers are worn a bit and it will cycle with no apparent usage, but, if it runs and shuts off at pressure it should be serviceable. If it does leak down the pressure and starts indiscriminately and then shuts off, you may be able to get the impeller head as a repair part. Much cheaper than replacing the whole pump.
