Question about water heater on propane??

today i de-winterized my 160x when i was trying out the water heater i flipped the switch down (down is on) and the light came on like normal but when the heater finally lit up the light went out. now it heated the water but the light used to stay as long as the switch was on. think the bulb went out?

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the light only comes on when the gas ignites, then goes off. I know when I switch from electric heat to gas and the water is hot, no light will come on. When the water goes below the desired heat, the propane will ignite and the red lite briefly comes on at ignition, then goes out. Its been a while since I was on gas heat.

yeah i must be goin crazy, we just got back from camping since thursday and it worked fine, the light came on when heater was lighting as soon as it lit the light would go out

I have experienced the same. I had not run the heater and once I turned it on the light went right off, I was surprised. The water did get hot and fast. The first time I took it out we were told the light goes out once the water reaches temp. How could it reach temp in 2 seconds. The water was warm!

I dont get this one.
