Raised trailer 3"

Finished lifting the trailer yesterday. Really was pretty simple and cheap.
24" of 2x3 1/4" steel tube. Bought this for $2.00 on Craigslist.
4 grade 8 1/2" bolts, nuts, lock washers and 8 washers.
I had been spraying the existing bolts for the last couple of weeks. They came out so easy that I reused them.
Lifted one side and removed the tire. Jack stand on frame behind axle.
Removed 2 bolts holding axle and lowered axle. Placed 12" piece of steel tube on axle end and lifted axle back into place. Marked hole location. Drilled 4 - 1/2" holes. Spray painted tube.
Install tube and bolt to axle. Torque to 100 ft. Lbs.
Replace tire and do the other side.

And how do you like that extra clearance? Doesn't it feel great? Is it ridiculous to be excited by clearance? (NO!)

I haven't hooked it up to the jeep yet but I will probably have to change hitch height.
It looks better raised.

Wait till you have to go up a steep driveway into a gas station, you wait for that dreaded scraping noise, and all you hear is nothing. Silence is golden!

I just got my FF245 and first thing I realized I didn't like about the camper is the low ground clearance.

how long were your 4 grade 8 1/2" bolts

1 inch
you can get by with 8" tube but I wanted to catch a hole that was further back. Some axle mounts may be different.

I watched a youtube video of a guy doing this on an Airstream. It's pretty easy.
Make sure you put some thing on the existing bolts to break them loose. That really helped.
