I just purchased two 6 volt Crown batteries used in series (12 volt) for my 2011 X189FDS Funfinder and am not sure what type of battery charger to purchase.
I am getting conflicting advice:
- Batteries Plus (where I purchased the batteries) recommend a smart charger that charges at 4 amps full and floats (trickles) at 2 amps. They said anything over 6 amps would overcharge the batteries and hurt it.
- The Crown manufacturer suggests to use a charger that charges 10%-15% of the amp hours. These Crown batteries have 235 amp hours, so 10% to 15% = 23.5 - 35.25 amps. So I would need a 25 amp to 40 amp charger.
Does anyone know which is correct and can suggest a good smart battery charger that won't break the bank?
Thanks...
