Removed the bunk, raised the shelf and added a swing railing.

Looks great Twinster ! Your thoughts on the bunk bed was similar to mine. I just took it out completely, and made a teakwood shelf over at the streetside that runs from the front wall back to the wall there. Your version looks nicer and more "finished" than mine.

I think having the bunk out of there "opens it up" visually, making it seem bigger inside.

All I keep on the shelf is extra blankets, etc.

Would LOVE to do this, but, alas, can't until "grands" get bigger and can no longer fit there or don't want to do with grandpa & grandma anymore. And yes, this does make it look so much "bigger", at least in the picture!

We use it as is. It is very handy for bulky items like small appliances, that you want to store out of sight. But different strokes for different folks as they say. We are short people and I don't have a problem with the bunk on my side of the bed.

looks real sweet... took off my bunk just for the additional head room, makes it feel bigger inside, will probably replace when my grandson get a little older and comes camping with grandma and grandpa.

Looks great. We took down our bunk too and plan on putting up shelves. Your valances and border are like ours but we didn't have a metal bar that we could use to hold up a shelf. I like your fold down rail. After using it awile, how do you like it?

Actually we have not even camped in it yet.
