rv carbon monoxide detectors

Hello,
We need to replace the detector in our 139X and were wondering if there was a particular reason to get an RV detector, which is pretty expensive, over a regular household detector, which is less expensive but generally larger in size. Any advice and reasons for advice?

There's only 2 reasons I can think of.
1. 12V vs 110V
2. the RV one is probably (although smaller) built for bouncing down the highway.
And where mine is located, at the bottom of the closet, I wouldn't want a larger one.
Just my opinion though.

Hello,
This one was a 9V battery operated detector, so no concern with voltage, but I had not thought of the bouncing. Thank you.

I had to replace my CM detector. I went to Campingworld and bought one that opperates on a 12 volts battery. The problem I have it goes off driving done the road or parked in area where there are a lot traffic. Talked to the company who manufactures them and they said it was built to use in a home. So be careful what you buy and amke sure it is made for RV's. I paid $30.00 for it.
