As stated in a previous post we just special ordered a 2013 Shadow Cruiser 225 RBS. This will be our first unit with a slideout. Can anyone give me their thoughts pro's/con's on having an awning installed over the slide?

Our previous 5th wheel had an awning above the slide, all it did kept the slide roof dry and kept the twigs and leafs off that roof. for the rest I don't see no bennefit.

Actually had an RV salesman talk us out of buying a slide awning. He walked us around the lot and showed us the used/trade-in RVs with slide awnings. All seemed to be frayed/fraying, torn, sagging, ripped in places, etc. Most only lasted 2 years or so. He said he would rather have the tube they come in.
So-just sweep off the debris before retracting the slide and save a couple hundred $$. That was the recommendation.
