Suggestion to Cruiser: caulk around sewer & gray pipes

While we were in Canada, a tiny field mouse decided to travel with us. We eventually trapped it and released it. When we got home, I tried to figure out how he had gotten into the trailer -- I thought I had sealed everything.

I decided to pull out our electrical converter box, just to see what I could see under the bathroom. Sure enough, the mouse had been in that area -- he left shredded paper and whatnot. But most signficantly, I could see daylight around the bottom of the sewer pipe that runs from the toilet down through the floor to the black water tank. There was a gap of about an inch all the way around the pipe.

I then opened the access hatch under the front portion of the bathroom, and the same was true of the gray water downpipe -- not quite as big of a gap, but a gap nonetheless.

With a great deal of effort, I was able to caulk around the pipes with spray foam. But this would have been very easy for Cruiser to do during the manufacturing process, before all of the cabinetry had been installed -- no need for contortions.

I don't know if Cruiser monitors this forum, but I hope so!

PS -- other than that, we had an amazing and trouble-free 6 week trip -- the trailer performed very well.

Having worked in the manufactured housing/mobile home industry for a number of years, the same is true there including triple wides selling for near $100,000

Sealing all possible access points isn't a big concern in the camper/travel trailer or manufactured housing industry with assembly line construction.

Just how it is. :?

FWIW our new 2013 266KIRB has everything sealed on the underbelly with the gray foam. I'm pretty impressed with how tight it is.

Of course I'll probably rip it all out soon to modify the air ducts and various other bits as well as add additional insulation... Afterwards I'll put it right back though!
