Have your summer camping ventures changed due to the rising price of fuel? Recent news indicates maybe as much as $7.00 a gallon this summer.

IF the price of gasoline increases that much, seriously doubt my unit will leave the driveway.

Here in Cali our diesel oil burner is now less than 87 octane gas.

In our case the issue is more are we healthy enough to be out on the road. If we can, we will!

Perhaps it will be a little less crowded than usual!

I'm glad I am too old to be drafted!

I have already met the military obligation years ago in the mid-60's w/honorable discharge upon returning home from S.E. Asia.

Wife is retiring this summer and had planned to get some adventures in, visit places we hadn't been without having to met a set schedule. Fuel prices may alter/derail those plans. Then again - she is having another back surgery next week so that could change things as well - praying for a successful outcome.

Vacations in the RV are still cheaper than anything I might do instead. I may not go as far or as often but I will still be camping.

Unfortunately gas will continue to rise. The carbon tax will add a lot to the cost. The war is only temporary. We are $40 per ton on the carbon tax with an increase set in April to $50. By 2030 it will be at 170 per ton. Currently our prices are close to $2/liter. That means a fill up will be $200 on my truck. In US gallons that's around 6/gallon US. Not much you can about it other than vote you're government out.

Here in the US - the average price is slightly over $4.00 a gallon and projected to rise to $7.00 or more per gallon as crude of $130 per barrel and expected to increase to $200 per barrel within a week - per the news this AM.

It will probably hit $5 per gallon in the US if we boycott Russian oil. I heard that Russian oil is less than 10% of US usage. Europe is much more dependent on Russia for its oil (something like 40%). And for the life of me, I cannot understand why Germany thought it would be a good idea to decommission all of their nuclear plants. Makes them extremely reliant on Russian natural gas for electric generation.

I think it'd be a good idea to get a few locking gas caps.....

Sadly I don't think locking gas caps will stop a gas thief.

several years ago, the last time the price of gas got near this level - the news reported thieves would slide a low rise container under the gas tank and then punch a hole in the bottom of the tank without a care about the amount spilled.
I imagine that will happen again. Of course, vehicles that sit 'high' like a pickup are prime targets.

It well known the USA had attained 'self sufficiency' in the oil industry just over a year ago and was exporting oil to other countries ........ then the 'greenies' took over to eliminate fossil fuels and now we are in a hole begging our enemies like Iran to produce more oil for out consumption while we sit on top of the largest oil reserves in the world.

It is interesting times we live in and those who 'claim' to solve the problems of the world often are the cause.

And that is the last I hve to say on the subject.

I believe the price of fuel will continue to rise along with everything else. I don't expect things to get much better for the next three years or so......
Our trips with the FF will be shorter but that's not all bad. We do have some beautiful state parks here in GA and reservations are not too hard to get during the weekdays, at least so far.
We do have some longer distance out-of-state trips planned but they will be in our little GMC camper van.

Our plan is to stay relatively close to home. We have a plethora of beautiful camping opportunities in the "Tri-State" area of WI, MN & IA. (Most within a 200 mile radius). I'll be very happy if the typical "hordes" of campers decide to stay home ;-).

Although the US is producing more oil, that oil belongs to multinational corporations that sells it on the international market. So unless the US government nationalize the oil industry (which will never happen), the price of gas will be dictated by oil prices on the open market.

We're all thinking good thoughts about your wife's back surgery -- hoping you will be on the road again real soon!

FYI - the results of the back surgery were on the positive side although there will be some months of recovery but able to stand and walk further each week without the severe discomfort previously. :)

Of course, releasing millions of barrels from the United States Oil Reserves does nothing per this article: https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/bidens-emergency-spr-oil-release-is-going-to-europe/

Continue with the exercises even after you feel good. Your back will thank you. This message is for your DW.
