Travel Trailer Covers

Once we purchase our TT, it will be stored outside in the weather (Illinois). Has anyone had any experience with TT covers? They appear to be fairly expensive on the Camping World website @ $350+. Looks like a good idea but would like to have some input.

They are spendy. Try a hay blanket. They are way cheaper, waterproof and come in different sizes. Only drawbacks are no zipper panels to enter TT no custom fitting webbing.

Farmer co-ops or feed stores will have them.

We were told to never cover an RV with a tarp or anything that doesn't breathe. It can hold the moisture in and cause mildew and roof problems. Now the covers specifically made for RVs do breathe, but are expensive and reviews about durability are all over the place. The ideal would be storage under a roof. We were told at the dealer to leave it uncovered but to be sure to inspect and maintain the roof twice a year.

Agree with ^^^^^^ this.

Friend of mine covered his motorcycle one winter (no place to store it inside) and used a cover made by the same company that made the motorcycle. In the spring when it was uncovered, the alum parts had dulled and pitted like and some of the chrome showed rust pits. He would have been better to leave it just sit out in the elements so the air could circulate around it.

Just a suggestion if you are going to store your camper outside:

Treat the roof, sides and tires with Aerospace 303 !

303® Aerospace Protectant™ for long-lasting finish and shine

This stuff is great although a tad spendy for some. The UV blocking ability will deter sun fading and protect the roof and tires.

Amazon has it along with many other suppliers found on the internet, including auto restoration/maintenance companies.

Thanks for the suggestion. Right now we have about 13" of snow on the roof though! I added it to my Amazon wish list though.

I am quite fortunate to be able to rent inside storage for the winter months for $180 this winter at the country fairgrounds. They raised the price last fall. :-(
