We went to Stanley, Idaho, for the eclipse, and then to Rainier, and Tahoe, and the Desolation Wilderness, and the Eastern Sierra -- a month of hiking and biking, in total. Lots of boondocking, some dry camping, a few days in transit in RV parks. Strenuous but fun. We got back two weeks ago, and it took me that long just to go through the photos (and unpack). Here is a link to our first of four blog posts -- lots of photos -- you can get to the other three posts from this link:

Look, Mom, We're Camping!: The Sawtooths, Rainier, and the Sierras: August, 2017 -- Part I (The Eclipse)

I should add that the Fun Finder performed like a champ -- some very rough dirt roads, big rocks, narrow forest roads. We took it real slow and careful -- no problem. Not one mechanical problem the whole month -- I did not open my toolbox at all. (The truck battery died, but that has nothing to do with the trailer!)

I read your first post and it sounds like a wonderful trip. Where do you put your bicycles while traveling? I wish we had the public land here for boondocking. You make it look like such an adventure.

We have a bike rack on the back of the truck, so that we can take the bikes to the trailhead without having to bring the trailer.

And it is an adventure, for us. (Real adventurers would laugh out loud at this point.) Boondocking out in the middle of nowhere is a lot of work and a lot of fun.

I saved your blog to my reading list to enjoy later.
Scanned through the photos. Looks like a perfect trip for you!!

It was a heck of a trip. We are really anxious to hit the road again, even though we have been home for only a month. Family health issues (very elderly parents) are keeping us here for a while, however.
