Hi all - The Dometic thermostat in my TT died this weekend so I'm needing to replacing it and want to install a programmable digital one. As a temporary fix I installed this non-programmable Honeywell I had lying around the garage:
https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-TH...&sprefix=honeywell+digital+th,aps,163&sr=1-36
That one worked well to get me out of a bind but now I want to upgrade to a backlit, programmable one, and bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-RT...&sprefix=honeywell+digital+th,aps,163&sr=1-37
But this one doesn't work. I called Honeywell and they said that it needs 24VAC over the R and W terminals in order to charge the relay as the batteries in the thermostat only power the display and not the relay. My temporary Honeywell one, they said, would work with only 12VDC, which it did.
So, has anyone installed a programmable, backlit thermostat that operates on 12VDC? Alternatively, does anyone have experience using a step-up transformer to supply, say, 30VDC to the thermostat which might then operate the thermostat's relay? Or any other ideas to get a programmable, backlit thermostat in my TT?
Cheers
Simon
