Upper bunk mattress T139

Hi all! I just purchased a sweet T139. What type of mattress do you recommend for the upper bunk. Unfortunately I will need to sleep up there when my friend and I are using it for horse event weekends so I'd like it to be as supportive as possible ( for my aging bones). It also needs to be able to stay up there when I fold it up to the ceiling so we can use the table. Any suggestions?

I think that bunk is rated at only 140 pounds?? There should be a sticker on the plywood that gives the load limit. Be careful!

Congrats on finding a T139. They are scarce.

Yeah, what the Prof said. Double check that weight limit before adding a heavy mattress.
I'll love to be able to advise but our T139 is an FK or front kitchen model and doesn't have an upper bunk.

I don't use my upper bunk, but I got a memory foam mattress topper at Costco for my bottom one, and it's quite comfy. You already have the provided mattress in the bunk, right? The memory foam is fairly heavy, I'm not sure you could travel with it in place, and it would be a pain to lift it up and down at each destination. They do make some amazingly-comfortable air mattresses nowadays, and if you look at the camping ones, they're not that high -- so that might be your best option? Just my experience, but in my opinion -- the 139 is an excellent one-person trailer but not really suited to 2 people unless maybe in the summer when most everything is happening outdoors.

For whatever it's worth, the two of us go for a month or more at a time in our 139, even in bad or cold weather. But DW is very small, and we get along really well. I am 6'3" and can deal with tight quarters with no problem.

Yes, there is a warning sticker. If I keep the mattress fairly light I should be ok...I hope! The unit didn't come with any mattress on top I think I'll probably try the air/camp mattress with a topper and see how comfortable and light that might be. Thanks for all the suggestions!
