Very interesting perspective on fuel mileage and size of rig

Someone once said on this forum that everyone can count on about 11 miles to the gallon. That stuck in my brain. Despite the advantage of getting in small campsites and general comfort, gas mileage may be another consideration.

The addition of a cold air intake, low restrictive exhause like Borla and an engine tuner like Bully Dog or Banks systems enhance performance and mileage.

And to many who can afford large campers/tow vehicles or big motorhomes that cost $100,000 plus ..... they say it doesn't matter.

Very true. As many have said, no matter what you are towing and what you are towing it with, you will get between 9 to 12 mpg for a gasoline engine and a little better with a diesel. But since diesel engines and diesel fuel generally costs more it all averages out. The big robber of mileage is wind resistance (i.e. drag) and not trailer weight or length. Pulling my FF189FBR (AUW about 3700 pounds) with my AWD V6 Highlander normally gets me 11 to 12 mpg going 65mph locked out of OD.

Amazingly enough, this winter we have been seeing diesel prices equal to regular gas prices and even lower. We pay less here in the Midwest compared to the far west I'm sure.
Today $2.41 regular and $2.48 diesel. Go figure. But Cadillac is cheaper than here. We pay high dollar near us.
