Our t160 2006 has a "water heater" switch near floor below n just rear of refrigerator. Guessing on (red light on) means elect mode for hot water heater?????

That is the switch to turn the water heater on. The switch to change between electric & gas is on the water heater itself. You have to open the access panel outside to get to it.

For what its worth, the switches in my FF are the opposite.

The switch on the heater itself (outside, behind the panel) is for turning on/off 110v electric.

The switch inside on my panel is for turning it on/off using propane.

So, don't guess, best find out!

That's the way my 2012 189FDS is. And the switch outside on the heater itself is "upside down" from what seems logical. Up is off.

I can run it on electric by itself, or propane by itself, or run on both at the same time. Some folks run it on both to heat the water more quickly, for instance if they have several people needing to use the shower one right after the other.

This morning I put water to camper, bled air at kitchen faucet n relief valve on water heater, turned on propane bottle, went inside and turned the switch in question to ON, a red light came on....went to outside water heater, panel was open. Heard some clicking and flame ignited, ran 5-8 min, cut off and I have not water!! Noticed red light went out when flame ignited. Have another question but will start another thread for that, re temp control. Did not figure how to run via elect, will figure it out. Tnx for help.

Did you try it again? Once in a while, the water heaters will heat on gas for a few minutes and then quit, for no reason. But on the second try, they usually work. It might have something to do with a temp sensor -- those things are notorious. I miss the old days of pilot lights!

Let us know if this works for you!

That is how my xt276 is too.

The electric switch is on the water heater itself...it's in off position with a hairpin thru it unless removed to run on electric.

I've never used the electric as propane is quicker recovery.;)

Depends on whether or not you have a "dual" power water heater. Many are gas fired only! Dual models will have an "E" at the end of the model #. I don't believ that there are any electric only modrls. My '07 FF x210 has a gas only WH (SW6D). When it's turned on at the switch just below the kitchen sink the red light comes on until the auto sparker lights the burner.
