Water Problem

I have a two-year old Shadow Cruiser (28'). During first year I had no problem. I sent it to RV centre for repairs over the winter. This year, I notice water draining from a valve under the trailer. It seems to be coming from the water tank. I have city water and have never deliberately filled the water tank or touched that valve. So I turned off the valve. I woke this morning to find the trailer floor covered in water. I'm guessing the water tank filled and overflowed. But where would the overflow come out of? How is city water coming into my trailer all over the floor? I opened the valve and turned off the city water. What do I do now to stop this water?

There is a check valve located near the water pump that has failed and will need to be replaced. Some water pumps have the check valve integrated into the pump, in which case you may have to replace the entire thing.

Wow! That was a quick response. Thank you. I reviewed some videos on how to replace check valves; but I don't know where to find the water pump OR the check valve on my Shadow Cruiser.

I'm not at all familiar with layout of your trailer, but in general, the water pump will be located directly above the fresh water tank and not far from the other side of the wall where the city water inlet is. Do you have a cabinet in that general location? If so, there's probably a removeable panel to access it. Or possibly a section of floorboard that lifts up.

I had a similar experience last season on the first time out with my x210. A few minutes after hooking up to the campground’s “city water”, I noticed that water was flooding the floor inside the camper. I immediately disconnected from the “city water” and mopped up the mess. A little bit of detective work led me to find that I had not completely hooked up the line to the pump . I do believe that there is a check valve in the pump BUT if the pump isn’t connected to the plumbing circuit, it doesn’t prevent the back flow of water from the “city water” source. Anyway, have you ensured that all of plumbing connections are tight? Did the RV place do any plumbing work or Winterizing and perhaps failed to reconnect the pump? I would start by checking those areas for proper connection.

The oem check valve on mine failed (appeared to be integral part of the water pump) and I added a separate real check valve in series with the line from the water pump. No problems now!
