We have a Fun Finder!

Hello fellow travelers,
We are new to this. My husband and I have been tent campers all our vacationing lives. Husband is already retired and I will be in a little over a year from now. We just bought a 2009 16ft Fun Finder X160. We are thrilled and can't wait for warmer weather to take our first excursion. Curious if anyone can answer a question for us. We went to the Cruiser RV site. It doesn't appear they make the 16ft any longer. Is this correct or did I miss something?

I don't have an answer to your question, but congratulations on your new trailer! If this is your first trailer, be sure to ask lots of questions -- we were all newbies once, and we remember how overwhelming it can feel. Also, check out RV.net -- lots of forums, lots of advice, and some of it is good.

Welcome from another newbie. Yes, it looks like they don't offer anything below 20 or more feet anymore. Cruiser RV was bought out by Heartland and maybe that's when things changed. I was told that by s local dealer yesterday. Not sure when it happened. I have asked lots of questions. Happy you are joining us!!

Yes, never be afraid to ask questions as that is how you learn and it can save you time and money too.

The components/appliances in your 160 are probably the same as those used on larger units so parts/repairs should be available for years to come.

Welcome to the forum!!
Look for your trailer book (I call it a build-book for lack of a better term). I received a 3-ring binder that had nearly all the manuals for the appliances; if you didn't get it (check the trailer), call the person/dealership you purchased your trailer from and see if they still have it... You will find it valuable as you go forward and have a great place to keep trailer documentation; I added data for the new TV/DVD units and radio I installed (I need to upgrade the TV antenna and install a small Ham radio in the rig and a bunch of other things that can be better or quieter)...

We have a 2008, 19' Toy hauler and love the rig... it has a few issues, but nothing major. We put over 5,000 miles on ours last year and I am looking on putting more on ours this year...

I think Eagle is right re: replacement parts. They seem to be used in many brands and models across the industry. Although a search for replacement door handles is getting frustrating for one owner.

One of the many nice things about these RV's is that they are in fact an assembly of many parts from various suppliers. The beauty of that, to use an example is that for instance, let's take water heaters or furnaces. Suburban is one manufacturer of these and they make them for many different trailer companies. These components are typically made in "industry standard" sizes. So even if the company that built your trailer goes out of business in the future, you could still buy parts or even a complete new heater or furnace, and likely install it with little difficulty in the the same place in the trailer.
A lot of the "other stuff" in the trailer, can be simply fabricated from common materials. Things like cabinetry, etc.
In other words, there are very few things indeed on your trailer that are unique to Cruiser. These RV's are essentially as rebuildable as you want them to be for a very long time.
To the OP, for sure, from your home base in Springfield, you have many very nice places to camp within just hours of home ( I'm from KC ). So enjoy your new trailer and welcome to forum. By the way....we love pictures here.....so post up some pics of you all finding fun in your funfinder !

Welcome! The CruiserRV website used to display FunFinder brochures going way back. Now all I see is back to 2013 models under the tab, "Brochures." I am sure someone out there knows when the 16' was last made. I can tell you it was a common model when we bought our first X189 in 2006 and that it was no longer listed as an available model when we bought our current 2012. Happy camping

I just this morning asked my dealer if he would special order a Fun Finder (this dealer dealt with the Radiance models, and when I was looking for my 2nd Fun Finder two years ago, he convinced Cruiser to sell it to him). Here is the dealer's reply this morning:

We are no longer a Cruiser RV dealer. They did not fair pay warranty claims and were hard to deal with when needing assistance.

And do I read that right -- you are looking for another trailer??

That is sad to hear but perhaps that is the same reason the dealer I purchased my XT276 from in 2012 no longer carries Cruiser products anymore.

However, I would not hesitate to make a purchase from that dealer again because they fulfilled their obligations 100%.......and I never had a "warranty issue" to contend with.

I am very pleased with my FunFinder.
