X-214WSD Axle rating

An indicated axle weight rating of 3,375 lbs is found on all Fun Finder spec sheets for the X-214WSD. My 214 has Lippert axles and each is labeled on the 2-3/8 diameter axle tube with the Lippert part number (241084), SN, manufacturing date and a gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of 2,800 lbs.

This 2,800 lb rating is 575 less than the advertised factory value of 3,375.

The trailer is a 2011 model and purchased used in 2014. While replacing the drain on the potable water tank I noticed the Lippert label and now wonder if the axle have been replaced or are they stock from the factory.

Do other 214 members have the same axles?

The "axle weight" is not the rating of the axle but the dry weight resting on both axles (or 3375 lb). Add the weight resting on the hitch (445 lb hitch weight) to that number to equal your total dry weight of 3820 lb.

APD, Thanks for the quick reply. Further explination may be necessary for my senion thought process. If the dry weight resting on the axles is 3375 lbs, then it would seem the 2800 GAWR axle would be overloaded by the difference of 575 pounds.

With two axles rated at 2800, plus the 445 advertised hitch weight, that should yield a gross weight of 6045 which is the advertised GVWR.

Maybe I'm having a another senior moment, but the 3375 value seems off.

The 3375 lb is not a rating for the axles. It's the actual weight of the trailer sitting on the axles. This is the weight the axles share.
If you took the FunFinder to a scale the weight on the axles would be 3375 lb. That's only 1687.5 lbs per axle. Add the hitch weight of 445 lb to that number and you have the dry weight of 3820 lb.
The axles are rated at 2800 lbs each for a combined capacity of 5600 lbs. Add the hitch weight of 445 lbs and you have the maximum load of 6045 lbs.
The difference between the two numbers is your payload limit of 2225 lbs of camping gear.
