Finally got around to weighing my XT276. Empty camper with F250.

Just truck:
Steer axle:4960
Drive axle:3660
Total: 8620

Truck and trailer with spring bars up:
Steer: 4860
Drive: 4680
Trailer axle:5580
Total: 15120

Truck and trailer with spring bars detensioned:
Steer:4520
Drive: 5160
Trailer: 5400
Total: 15080

It looks like the tongue weight is in the 1000-1100 lb range. LOT higher than I expected. I only have 1000# spring bars on my equalizer, looks like I'll be getting a bigger hitch!

When I purchased my xt-276, I asked the dealer about going to bars heavier than the 1000# ones.

The dealer who also set up the Equal-i-Zer hitch said no, they will be to heavy. To date, I've had no problems with the 1000# bars as it rides well behind my 1/2 ton Dodge Ram 1500.

That hitch weight will be reduced with a load in the back room. Not exactly sure how much but if I had to guess a good bit. If mines empty, no hitch bars attached, tongue foot resting on a wood block, once I load the junk in the back room the tongue jack will rise up off the wood block 1/2" or so and this is still with no hitch bars attached and just the tongue on the truck hitch resting. So adding weight to the rear room works in many ways to counter the already heavy tongue weight.

I have the Equilizer 1200/12000 hitch and so far it's done the job very well. Other than being noisey I have no complaints. Still no official weights on my trailer loaded or not loaded. Always seem to busy and in a hurry to make time to weigh it.
