Default First Trip with my Trailer

Well, thanks to all the helpful advice and guidance I managed to get my trailer ready and headed out for my first camping trip in my FF 139X. I managed to get backed into a spot surrounded by trees (a few attempts were required but I didn't hit anything!). I hadn't thought through that backing in would mean that my door wasn't overlooking the lake, but I wasn't about to turn it around at that point. It was a great experience - I loved waking up in the morning and looking out at the blue sky and sunshine (since I hadn't closed the shades). I put coffee on first thing and it perked a lot faster than my little one-burner unit that I used to sit on the picnic table. It was also nice not having to haul my cooler in and out of the car continually (we put all our food away because of bears). I also slept better knowing it was going to be a bit harder for a bear to break in to my trailer than a tent. Driving there and back was quite a bit slower than I am used to driving and I did lug quite a bit going uphill - but I guess that is to be expected.

A photo of my trailer parked at Tarfu Lake in the Yukon Territory. I am just getting out of my kayak to go back to the camp spot.

Lynn

Wonderful campsite! There is a brilliant professional photographer named Sue Thomas who lives not too far from you -- she is active on the rv.net Canada forum -- and her blog has a lot of great suggestions for campsites. The sky is the limit -- Kluane, the Tombstones, etc.!!!

That's funny that you've seen her photos. I have actually picked some campgrounds based on looking at her photos - Boya Lake in northern BC was one. She does have a great blog - although I've never met her I think she lives in Whitehorse. The Tombstones is on my list for next summer!

It's not a coincidence -- I have always wanted to go to the Yukon, and she is one of the leading nature photographers up there. It would take me two weeks of driving just to get to that amazing area.
