Default What does this thing do???

I was checking out the cabinet where the TV is mounted and discovered a red LED light on the TV cable plate mounted on the far back side of the cabinet. The TV coaxial cable attaches to the plate and runs to the TV. There is a push button on the plate that turn the light on and off. My first guess is that it might be a TV amplifier. Anyone have any suggestions as to its purpose?

Your assumption is correct it is a signal booster for the antenna.

If you use that booster, be sure to turn off the little red light when you are done with the radio or TV. Otherwise, it will drain your battery. Please don't ask how I know this.

Above are correct...signal booster and turn it off when not in use as it's a power gremlin.
I removed the plate w/the light/booster when replaced the factory Jensen antenna with the Jack Antenna that doesn't need the 'booster'.
