Default How is the roof decking attached?

This is the second time I have noticed a bulge in my roof near the edge. In both cases you can push down about a 1/4 inch and you hit a solid firm surface. It really feels as if the decking is separating from the aluminum trusses or the decking is delaminating. There are no leaks in the inside and no bulging in the side panels. If I were to guess, I would say the glue holding down the decking is detaching de to heat or age or both.

I have the original brochure for my trailer and it has a sort of rudimentary schematic of the roof construction. It appears that its exactly as you're thinking. There is luan wood decking attached to the aluminum frame but no description of how exactly it's fastened. Glue would be a good guess.

Is it the roof decking or the roof covering over the decking that is loose?

Our 2008 X160 has a soft pliable, rubber like material sheet forming its top cover, it isn't glued to the wood underneath it and can be moved about sightly. I assume this is factory, just not sure.

The 'sheeting' is either TPO or EPDM material.

TPO is the same color on both sides where EPDM will be white on one side and black on the 'down' side.

To find out, simply remove a roof vent inside trim piece and some roofing material will be evident, peal it up and view.

It is definitely the wood decking that is lifting up. I suspect that it is glued to the aluminium roof trusses and that age/heat have let it go. BTW, the roof covering on mine is TPO.

Since it's the wood that is lifting due to separation from the roof truss, and you can pinpoint where the roof truss is, maybe run in a few screws with fender washers under the screw heads and coat with Dicor sealant ???

Just a thought.
