Default x240 Sways when speed reachs 60mph.

When towing a X240 we are wanting to buy, I experienced swaying once speeds reached 60 mph.. I want to know how much difference a weight distribution and sway control device will make? Would it be easier to tow an X189 ? Or will you still get the sway?

A WD and anti-sway set up will make a big difference. I use both when towing my X-250BHs. I have yet to notice any sway and i routinely roll along at 65-70mph.

A X189 will be easier to tow but you would still get some sway most likely.

Even though these are light weight trailers, imo, a person still wants weight distribution and anti-sway for the 18'+ models when towing with a 1/2 ton truck. It will make for a smoother, more controlled and safer ride for the passengers. Plus you will take care of your sway problem.

Get the trailer you really want and spend the little bit more for the added safety it gives you.

Enjoy.

I agree with Van, and also make sure that the trailer is weighted properly. ie. 10-15% of the weight on the tongue.

And you will still get sway with a 18' trailer if it is not set up properly.

I have 12000 miles on my trailer and have had it up to 70MPH with no swaying, wind or no wind. I use swaybar system http://www.equalizerhitch.com/. Easy on and off.
