Has anyone moved up to a 5 th wheel ?

I am thinking of selling this xt276 toy hauler , I need a bigger garage plus what a bigger toy hauler . Looking at the heartland cyclones , has anyone moved up to a 5th wheel, pros and cons ?

In your case, the move to a 5r will also require a truck upgrade. The 5r pin weight will put about 20% of the GVWR of the trailer in the bed of the TV. Basically, if the trailer weighs say 10,000 lbs loaded, the pin weight on the hitch will be in excess of 2000 lbs. Fifth wheel trailers pretty much demand 3/4 ton trucks at a minimum and usually 1 ton rides to tow safely.

You will need at least a 3/4 ton tow vehicle....and possibly a 1 ton.

Do a search for posts by Webslave. He moved up to a 5er a year or so ago. He still posts here from time to time.

Yea looking at gmc 3500 and ram 3500 trucks , moving up to a 5th wheel looks and feels expensive !!!

Ok after a lot of thinking and research I am just keeping what I have and be happy with it , can't justifiy spending that amount of money into a 5 th wheel and new truck for a few trips a year , maybe different I was retired , but a very long time before I am at the point . May just add and upgrade a few things with mine , be a lot cheaper !!

You may have made the correct choice.

When I was looking for a toy hauler, one dealer tried to convince me to buy a Raptor toy hauler, claiming it was 1/2 ton towable. Well, it was just barely below the tow capacity rating for my pickup ... EMPTY!
A fellow I know had a nice toy hauler he pulled with his 3/4 ton pickup and when he traded for a new unit, dealer told him his 3/4 ton would pull it just fine. That proved to be false. He finally had to buy a new truck to pull the new, heavier toy hauler that cost him way more than he wanted to spend.

ALWAYS know the rated capabilities of your tow vehicle BEFORE looking to purchase a different camper 'cause the salesperson works on a commission.
