LJAZ, need more help stamping out spam?

I've noticed that too and wondered why so much here. More here than most forums I visit.

I can use all the help I can get! And with the spammers too!

It's definitely getting worse. Used to be just a few posts every few days. Now it seems like there's way more spam daily than legitimate posts. Part of it may be because I think this forum software is old and doesn't have some the protections other sites do. Janet H mentioned we were in need of some upgrades, hopefully that will come soon and help minimize the spam.

I used to admin a phpbb site, and had pretty good luck nuking spammers.

Now I admin a custom-coded forum (and CMS) at vitalmx.com, and we still have to deal with them, but it's not too bad.

If your interested in being a moderator you could contact the site Administrator Janet H and volunteer. I try to log on at least once a day to clean up the spam, but if I'm out in the FF I don't always wifi available so I might miss a few days.

I was thinking there was a button on posts to notify admins that we could click when we saw a spam post, but yeah, I could do that if it would help you. My days are usually pretty open.

No direct button to report spam, although that's not really much of an issue. We don't have so many posts that it's hard to find the spam. In fact with all the spam it's sometimes hard to find the valid posts! But the site's getting a makeover so that should help quite a bit.
