Default Fresh water pump

Hi all,

I am trying to determine what the circled object is the attached picture. Is it the strainer? If so, what is the cap for? Is it backwards? The arrow is pointed towards the pump.
Thank you
Joe

Need more context with regard to what it is attached to and where the tube is going to.

I’m going to go with the check valve suggestion. The purpose being to prevent backfilling the fresh water reservoir when connected to “city water”. I’m guessing that every camper has one, that one is just very close to the pump.

I think it is for a winterization kit install, so you can draw antifreeze straight from the bottle.

That is a check valve per Rip Van. There is one in the pump and if it fails you can install one like this, been there done that.
