No More Bubbles
It's been a while since I have seen my trailer, but what a difference! All the rot was removed and new wood in it's place. I have new skin on the front, both sides were peeled back past the front side windows, bad wood replaced and the skins re- glued. Yes, there is a seam in the front skin, but since remnants were used, I don't find it objectionable. AC was serviced, frig was checked & cleaned, heater & water heater fired up & checked, plumbing pressure tested for leaks and all systems are good to go. I also had new bearings and brakes installed on all 4 wheels, so this trailer is ready to roll (and stop). All this was done for a cost of $1800. That, coupled with the purchase price of $2500 and the title work cost of $270 has me all in at $4570, which is just about NADA Low Book value. I need to remove all the peeling decals (any hints?) and have new ones made, polish up the exterior and this should be a really nice trailer. As soon as the "swamp air" leaves OKC, I'll get after the decals.

They did a great job. I've seen posts about people getting the decals off so maybe it won't be too hard.
I noticed they didn't put your lights back on. Was that intentional?

The lack of lights wasn't intentional on my part. Upon checking various sites, upper lights are not required on a trailer this small. IN OK, they are not required at all, only the lower lights. If I really want to put them back on, we can open up the inside wall in the bunk area to get to the wires. The upside to no lights is less chance for a leak in the future.

FFX160 - Here is the front before the "procedure". Also, a pic of the water damaged passenger side (all from an unsealed factory speaker)
I guess things are cheaper here in the fly over zone. My sister lives in CT, not sure how y'all afford it.

Removing the decals is probably going to be easiest with a plastic scraper. Normally a razor blade and heat gun work best but would probably damage the trailer wall. Spraying ammonia solution on it should help, but I'm not sure if that might also cause damage or discoloration.
That repair looks outstanding, they did a great job. The seam looks like it's meant to be there.

LJAZ- I think it looks great. Better yet, no chance of leaks. Butyl tape under metal trim on both corners and under the seam trim, then edges caulked with non sag Dicor. There is a 4" rubber seal the covers the joint between the front skin and the roof as well. If this swampy air we have here in OKC ever leaves, I'll get after the decals.

Interesting to see what the trailer looks like under the fiberglass. That was a lot of damage, and yes, you got a bargain on the repair. If we end up keeping ours and ever need to have the front end done, I want to use your guy.

This might be an option to remove the decals .. used by auto body shops.

Eagle - I watched a You Tube video of someone using a wheel like that. Looks much easier than a heat gun & a scraper.

I wasn't sure if those wheels would mark the trailer walls. You might want to try it in an inconspicuous spot first.

Z - He used 2 pcs of remnant fiberglass. That is why there is trim thru the window area. Sorry I missed your post about what we found under it. The front wasn't bad, but the passenger side had watet damage. Replaced all the rot and re-glued the skin.

Wow. That is an amazing job. I don't know what year your trailer is, but I can't believe all that damage came from the just the speaker. You sure the roof is water tight?

twinster2 -
The roof is water tight. The only water damage was on the side of the trailer. I actually took down 2 ceiling panels just to make sure before I took the trailer to him. The only indication of water damage in the interior was below the front window. The wall panel had cracked. He got the trailer a day after it rained here and the wood directly under the speaker was wet, but the roof frame was dry. The roof had been replaced in 2013 and "maintained" each year since.
